Who can apply?
The minimum eligibility criteria for a Crystal C. Chavez Foundation scholarship are:
- Must be in the 12th grade or 12th grade level standing
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States
- Must plan to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at a 4-year U.S. accredited college or university in the upcoming school year
There is no GPA requirement to qualify for a Crystal C. Chavez scholarship.

Our scholarships are funded through individual donations, business contributions and fundraisers. If you would like to make a donation, please click here.
Scholarship Selection Committee
The Scholarship Selection Committee is comprised of the members of the Board of Directors. The committee will announce and select scholarship recipients each year in the spring. Scholarships are a one-time award, and cannot be renewed. The Scholarship Selection Committee receives no compensation.
Scholarship Criteria
The Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate each applicant on the following criteria:
- Academic Achievement
- Leadership Skills
- Community Involvement
- Financial Need
The Crystal C. Chavez Foundation realizes that to be effective we must be selective and so our first scholarship efforts will be focused on students enrolled in the El Monte Union High School District with future plans on extending our focus to surrounding school districts.
